Sendero, Pastel Painting, Sketch and Photo

Remember it is First Friday in Bastrop!  Art, artists, receptions, music, food and more.  The art walk is 5:00 p.m. until its over, sometime after 8:00pm.  Start your evening at Art Connections, 908 Main Street where Judy Hawes is the featured artist with her beautiful jewelry and paintings.  She is a designer and her work if filled with love.  I bought a silver and crystal necklace and earrings yesterday. Lovely.

I dropped off another painting there today.  You can check out my three pieces and the other art by about 60 artists there.

Sendero, Pastel on Pastelbord, 11 x 14 inches
First Friday is growing every month.  Another large group of artists at the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild and in the various businesses Have fun!

I sketched this morning in my regular sketchbook with a Prismacolor Premier 05 pen.  It took about 10 minutes to complete and longer to post about it, right?

For Scavenger Hunt 312, Number 1, cane.  Gene has started a collection of canes now that he uses one most of the time.  They are quite different.  The tall wooden stick was a gift from Christy and Nick.  He has one from Larry Burchett with a brass cobra handle.  The tall one with the silver top if from Virgina.  He bought most of the rest.  The three on the right have bird heads on them.  Just my thing!!

So, now that he has started a collection, I can get back to my cup collection.  I didn't think I needed one, but when Sue was here, we went through my six cups in a hurry.  I bought a new handmade one at Art Connections yesterday, I don't remember the artist, sorry.  So now I have 10 regular type cups.  Yay!

This is a garage at 1441 and HWY 95.  You know I love red, white, and blue.  This has the Texas flag to boot.

When we were in Bolivia we had a going away party for a friend that was from Texas.  We put the Texas flag up in the yard.  One of the Bolivians came up to us and asked why we had a flag from Chile displayed.  Bolivia and Chile have had a few wars, you know.  Anyway we had to explain that it was a Texas flag, not a Chilean flag.

 Texas Flag

Chile Flag
You can see why it might be a bit confusing.  We lived in both Chile and Bolivia and really liked both.  It was a bit controversial that day, especially without a Bolivian flag up.

Jesse had a "discussion" with a lady who argued that the Italian flag was Mexico's flag. Jesse knew the difference.

Love the cane sketch.

I guess we all need to "grow" our worlds. I used to think I was great at Geography. Not any more. Too many changes in the world.

Thank you on the sketch, I actually had fun with it. You never know what will catch your eye. Ha.

Hi, Joanna. The cane collection is growing quickly, so much for no collections anymore. Ha.
