Between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Miles City, Montana, the scenery is pretty much the great plains of the north. The west is so dry and very sad to see. We did see beautiful views of rocks, bluffs and more in the distance. Sheep were abundant. We can only imagine how beautiful it is when it rains.
We saw these rocks all along between Laramie and Gillette, Wyoming. They are similar to the City of Rocks near Silver City, New Mexico. The land is flat and not near mountains and it looks like the rocks were tossed at random. Very interesting to see.
You can see where there had been mud at some time with the tire ruts in this photo. The hay bales were huge both round and square.
These are some sheep, my photos were all blurry as we couldn't stop there for photos, but you may get the idea.
These red bluffs were a break in the color of the dry brown dirt and grass.
This pretty sky was from Helen's house as we left in the evening.
Helen and I. Can you tell we are related??
The wheat fields and corn fields were plentiful, but not in as good a shape as they should be. Just too dry.
Before we got to Bozeman where you turn south to Yellowstone, we began to find some mountains.
I think this was the Yellowstone River. It was very smoky, especially near Bozeman from the fires in California and Idaho. We did see signs of small fires along the highway, but no active burning.
More of the hazy landscape.
Gene walking around a bit at a rest stop.
Beautiful country between Missoula and Kalispell. You can see the beginnings of the mountains near Glacier National Park.
The road signs were in two languages. Not a clue what the first is. I should look it up. Maybe you will look it up for me.
This is the huge fresh water lake, Flathead, south of Kalispell. Gorgeous to look at. Wind advisories on the lake today, so more dry weather.
This is in the middle of Main Street in Kalispell. Very pretty town.
More than likely, I will be continuing the saga when we get to the resort. Check back.......
