My title for this blog post is from a story Gene tells where Davy Crockett is asked if he was ever lost. He replied that he had never been lost, but was bewildered once for three days. It seems I usually get us off on one wrong road. We have done well this trip but I thought you might have thought we were lost after the long dry spell between posts.
I will put in a few photos to guide you along our route. We were in Albuquerque to visit with family and celebrate the August birthdays.
We left Albuquerque and headed north with a destination of Miles City, Montana to visit a cousin of mine, Helen.
I also try to get a photo of the longhorns at San Acacia. I can never get a good close up and I don’t think to ask Gene to stop in time. Al was driving though so I didn’t think to ask again.
This is Highway 25 back into Albuquerque in the neat sunlight.
When we went to Grants I didn’t post this of some horses. I take lots of photos of horses and usually there are so many backsides in the photos, this one is better.
I have posted many pictures along the road from Albuquerque north, but wanted to share one of the hippy houses. I mentioned before they were made of rocks, bottles, and junk and half underground. Now they sell for big bucks. Who knew?
You can see some of my photos of northern New Mexico from the last few years on my Picasa page. Link to the right.
From Alamosa we went to Fairplay, Colorado for the night. This is the road into Fairplay. We were on the paved road.
This lake is between Fairplay and Breckenridge.
Here is a scene after we left Breckenridge, Colorado.
We visited my cousins in Colorado. This is Rex, Kris, Carol and John. We had a good time. The house is made from hay bales and Kris has soooo many antiques and interesting “stuff”. Love to see it all. They are a great bunch, we should see them more often.
This is a territorial prison as you arrive in Laramie, Wyoming. It is a combination museum and welcome center.
We stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to get together with an artist friend from wetcanvas.com in the Southwest forum. I have been chatting and corresponding with Ron Swearingen for a few years now. He is a great artist, drawing and pastels, and very warm and generous in posts.
From Cheyenne we came to Casper. We took a rest day here. We washed clothes, washed the car and relaxed. We needed that.
I visited by phone with another blogging buddy, Ginny Butcher. We have been blogging friends for a while, too. She was out of town in Douglas, Wyoming, for the State Fair. We tried to get a room there and all the hotels were full. As we got to the edge of town we could see why.
Along the way coming to Cheyenne we saw a huge iron cowboy on a horse, a jack rabbit and this dinosaur. This is the only photo that was not so blurry. Interesting in the wide open plains to have something to watch for. We will see what we spy tomorrow.
I hope to post again soon .. stay in touch. We will be in Miles City, Montana, a couple of days and then to Trego, Montana, for the art workshop. That will be fun and I hope to learn a few new things.

I'm glad to know you were not bewildered. We always wanted to try a straw-bale house, but we got too old to try something new. Looks like you are having fun. Hope you post art from your workshop as well as scenery from the trip.
Hi Bag Blog, thank you. The house is neat, they have some of the glass blocks in the bathroom! We will see what kind of internet we have at the workshop. We will be 20 miles or so out of the small town of Trego, so just depends. I will do what I can!
I enjoyed this post SO much, Jo.! These photos are amazing and makes me want to visit Montana and Wyoming again!! Two of my favorite places to go! It looks like you're having a wonderful time!! Enjoy. Looking forward to more photos...
hmuxo, Hilda, thank you. We are having so much fun. Will be posting when I can. Not good here in Bozeman, we are sharing Gene's computer! No Wi-Fi for my iPad.
Cool photos, Jo. Had to pop my ears as I went through them... what's your elevation now?
Hi Regina, thanks. We are in Kalispell and are only about 500 ft. above sea level only by Flathead Lake. Pretty here, too. It will only be about 3,000 at the workshop. We will hit the mountains after!
