Hunting for Hunt 279

We are in Albuquerque, it is about 91 degrees and dry, which beats 103 and humid in Bastrop. Being in Albuquerque finds us visiting family and friends.  We get to visit old favorite haunts and remember the good old days.

We lived in Albuquerque from 1966 to 1971 as I recall.  Joanna and David started school here.  I worked for Continental Airlines.  Gene went to the University of New Mexico, worked as a land surveyor and then went to work for the U.S. government in the Justice Department.  It all seems like yesterday and yet so long ago.

I sketched today here in the hotel for Scavenger Hunt 279 with a Prismacolor Premier 08, in the travel sketchbook 7 x 10 inches, freehand as you can usually tell.

Number 1, twisted - cord for my iPad. Number 2, group of seven - seven fingertips.  Number 3, jam - substitute peanut butter as we don't have any jam.  Number 4, eraser - on a pencil.

Gene biked this morning.  He likes biking here on the great hike and  bike trails that are paved, wide and fenced.  He can bike for miles .. without getting on a street or intersection.  Very pleasant.  I went for about a 35 minute walk on the same trail.  This part is right along I-40 so not the quietest part or the best view.  The Sandia mountains in the distance were nice.  It was about 830 a.m.

A few photos from our trip:

A couple of the thousands of wind turbines near San Angelo and Big Spring, Texas.

Some of the rain clouds.  We got in a good shower between Brownfield and Plains, Texas.

Between Roswell and Clines Corners in New Mexico is some of the most desolate country.  It was actually green.  I do not remember ever seeing this part of New Mexico with green grass.  Amazing as over all the countryside is still in drought.

I forgot to mention it is Al Dickson's birthday today.  Happy Birthday, Al!!  Means we eat dinner out in a great old restaurant in Albuquerque, the Cooperage.  Yum!

Susan, hi there! Thank you. I love sharing and hope to pass a smile or two. We have seen all 50 States now and most of Canada.

It was cool here today, too. Well, it was only 95. Toby's sister worked for the company that put those windmills up around San Angelo.

Bag Blog, a cool 95, that's better. :) It will be at least that here today. But a dry desert hot, cool in the shade. Those windmills are huge so Toby's sister worked hard. We saw some blades being hauled down the road. One per over sized trailer. Whew.
