Hosting the Hunt

I am the host for Scavenger Hunt 258 which runs from today through March 2. The Hunts are on wetcanvas.com.  The artist community is amazing.  Any media, style and focus is there for help and camaraderie. There have been almost 10,000,000 posts so you can find something that interests you.

I visit the plein air, pastel and southwest art the most.  When I have time, I explore the other forums as well.

The Hunts have been good for me.  They keep me sketching and I have made internet friends around the world.  We volunteer to be hosts and pick 26 everyday items from in and around our houses.  It is fun to see the mailboxes, telephones, skylines and more from different places.

Here is the list for this week.  Maybe it will entice you to join us.  You sketch from life and can do as many as you want.  You can post them and comment or not as you like.

Aromatic
Bed
Comfortable
Doorway view in or out
Evergreen or other tree
Flower real or fake
Glove
Hearth or heater
Ink bottle or pen
Jeans
Knot
Lamp
Medicine bottle or tablets
Nightstand or table
Old fashioned
Pan
Quarters
Red
Sandwich or snack
Telephone
Underwear or other "U" item??
Vehicle
Washer
Xylophone or other "X" item
Yellow
Zebra or zipper

Challenges:
Do items in order
Unusual view, upside down, backwards, etc.

I sketched this morning with a Micron 05 pen.  I thought I had my new pen, but it turns out to be an old one that was about out of ink so my images are a bit faint.....

Number 1, evergreen and Number 2, hearth or heater.  Our electric fireplace, which we are really liking.

And there is the real thing!  We have just about got the house in order now.  It is pretty full of furniture.  We just keep noticing little things.  When we went to the first baseball game, Gene didn't have his radio to listen in the stands.  We didn't have our cushions.  Joanna gave us hers, but we are one short!  I went to sew on my new sewing machine and I didn't have a cloth tape measure or straight pins.  Just those little things that we always have on hand.  Sigh......

The house is looking good. I expect you will notice lots of missing things as the year goes by. It doesn't take long to load up on things, though. We just cleaned out the storage unit, and I'm horrified at all my junk.

As always, your sketches are amazing! So happy to hear your house is furnished and now "home"! The fireplace is beautiful! One doesn't think about the little things we take for granted until they aren't there when we reach for them! Great you are hosting this Scavenger Hunt - will try and check out the entries!

Judi, thank you. You will have to come out. We need to have our house warming soon.

Tape measure! Straight pins! Heh. Hard to believe all the things you just take for granted. although, I don't think I have either of those things on hand.

Yes, Joanna. Think of things every day. Like the martini glass for your dad. He bought all the fixin's and didn't have a glass. Sigh....
