Remembering the Cowboy

The National Day of the American Cowboy reminds me of my Dad.  You can read my 2009 post here (with photos) and check him out.  He was definitely one of the last working cowboys.  He was a ranch hand for room and board and a small paycheck.  I was with my sister yesterday and we had some fond memories.  When he was ill with cancer at 80 years old, he said he was ready to go when he could no longer saddle up his horse.  We all miss him.

That is one of my favorite paintings. The photo of your dad is so great. You should paint it.

It would be great if Grandpa was still around. Of course, he'd be 111 years old! Hugs...

Bag Blog, thank you. How is it that we never paint things like the photo of my Dad. David wants a painting of the two of them and I have promised it for years. Sigh.....

Joanna, you gave me a smile for tonight!

I remember this painting, loved it when I first saw it, and now that I know who it is, it's even better! More, please!

I so glad for you to have good memories of your dad - and how cool that he was the real thing!

I do have great memories, thanks, Regina. He spanked me once and I remember that, too. Ha!
