Smithville, Texas, Needs Help Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

In Smithville there is an urgent call for artists, carpenters, and workers of all ages to assist with the building of a float for the Smithville Jamboree.  Dub Watts and Kathy Karcher have taken on a huge project to honor the fallen heroes of Smithville.  Dub once worked for Mardi Gras World in New Orleans where he designed and constructed floats.  This is strictly a volunteer effort financed by these two as a tribute to the five from Smithville who have given their lives in the Mid-East.  Jamboree is on the 2nd of April and that means that there is just a week left to finish the float.  If you can spare three days or just an hour please come to the American Legion Hall on American Legion Road in Smithville Thursday through the weekend to assist in getting this float finished in time for the parade.  You don’t need any particular skills; just a willingness to work and perhaps get dirty.  We need all the help we can get and it’s an opportunity to give back in small way.  Call Dub at 512-360-7527 or Jo Watts at 512-577-5252 for more information.
