Ouch, the Glass Broke on the Pastel Painting!

You remember that I painted out on the street in front of the gallery on Thursday in the nice weather?  I painted the view "Down Main Street"?  I took the painting home and asked Gene to put it under glass quickly so that I could have it at the gallery for First Friday.

He worked on it Friday Morning and I took it to the gallery along with the food, tablecloths, etc., for the reception.  When I was taking the things out of the bags, the painting slipped, I jerked my hand and it flew to the floor.  Crack!

Here is the result:

It actually looked pretty neat.  The glass didn't fall out as it was taped to the painting.  I brought it back home and Gene removed the glass.  I took the painting back to the gallery and did some touch ups, although it really was not damaged at all.

Because I painted it outside, it looked very pale when brought indoors.  I decided to darken the posts and the things that were closer to me when painting.  It improved the painting, given more depth to the scene.

Down Main, 5 x 7 inches, Pastel on Art Spectrum Paper
It is a Jo's Notion and can be purchased for $50.00.  Free shipping.  It will be fixed against the glass so you can pop it in a frame of your choice.

I like the changes so I guess it's a good thing you dropped it! :-)

Me, too, Joanna. My framing guy wasn't too happy, though. Guess he will do it over soon. :-)

Ouch, I have had that happen to me several times Jo, it's always (heart in my mouth ) time. I know how you must have felt.
Great touch ups though, so all is well, and how wonderful that Gene can reglass it for you, handy hubby.

Rae, lucky it was a small painting. I would have cried if it had been a big one with museum glass. Ha.

I like the freshening up you did on it too. I may have to drop some of mine :)

Hi, Jo, glad it was such a happy ending, and I, too, like the changes!

Ouch is right but it looks like it was a minor mishap overall.
The value issue is always a problem outdoors. I use an umbrella but sometimes it's not enough.
I like the changes.

Good Save, Jo!

It's a lovely painting.

Mary, you are so right about the value issue. I was in the shade, but it was still very high value. I like the changes, too.

Teresa, thank you. I do like painting outside. It forces you to paint faster and think harder or paint without thinking. Ha.
