The
Austin Pastel Society held their regular meeting on Sunday, January 23. It is such a nice club, so is very nice to get together with them. Pastelists are in general very sharing and this group is extra special. We meet at
Tres Amigos Restaurant and the food is great as well. (I like the puffy tacos among other things.) I had dinner with Gene and Joanna afterward which was very good and a nice evening.
Denise LaRue Mahlke was the presenter. I met Denise at the
International Pastel Society convention in Albuquerque way back in 1999 I think. She is an excellent painter and an experienced teacher.
The demo was about clouds in landscapes. Denise explained about atmosphere, colors and design. It was a great demo.

If you get a chance to attend a demo or workshop with Denise you won't be disappointed.

'Glad you had fun. I enjoyed our dinner afterward. :-)
I like the way Denise paints. Thanks for sharing. I really want to get back into doing more pastels. Doing the portrait the other day felt really good. I'd love to eats some good Mexican food too.
Bag Blog, we need to get together and paint. I would like some good New Mexican food. We didn't bring any new chile back this year so we are spacing it out. Ha.
Joanna, I did have a good time. It is always great to see you. Hugs.
I'm pleased you also enjoyed Denise's demo, so many people did. She is, indeed, a gifted artist and giving teacher! Glad to see you got my good side in the photo! :-)
Thanks, Susan. I just had to identify you! Tee hee. Denise is great. Ah, and so are you. :)
