Day at the Studio

I worked on a painting of pears, a commission, today. It is not quite finished so I will not post the large image, but you can see the idea and how my studio looked today. I had the easel facing the other way, but turned it around for the photo.  You didn't want to see the back, did you?  :)  Hopefully I will finish it tomorrow and then varnish it the next day.  It is acrylic, 16 x 20 inches on a wrapped canvas.  I will be painting the edges as part of the painting.

Pears are almost as much fun to paint as apples.  This painting with all the green was a challenge.  Trying to keep the light areas light without being the same green as the pears was a little difficult.  I think it is coming together, though and I am pleased with the progress.

Pears and more Pears

I wanted to show you Lester Sensat's oil and acrylic landscapes as well.  His work has a very traditional look with lots of detail.  It is difficult to tell which is oil and which is acrylic.  I didn't get his photo at the reception (I did, but deleted it), so will try to catch him this week and put up a photo.  This work will be up through November.

Lester Sensat's "Evergreen" and "Spring Morning"

"Best Water Company Around", "The Stone Bridge", You Stay on Your Side and I'll ...., "Frosty Crossing"

In December we will feature mostly small paintings for gift giving with larger paintings available, but not on the featured wall.

I hope you can stop in and look at the paintings in person.  They are sooooo much better.  You probably know that from visiting museums or other art galleries, right?

I still hope you can stop in and visit or take a class or pick up a gift.  I like the visiting part!  :)

Ah, and for web browsing tonight, go have a look at Regina's Pearathon.  There are many beautiful pear paintings there.   Artists can submit their pears as well.

Ron, Hi and thanks. :) By coincidence I had stopped by your blog and looked at the flag bearer last night! Really neat, I just was flitting by and didn't comment on any blogs I was reading. Never enough time, eh?

(My word verification is "frested", must be shorthand for frustrated at having no extra time. Ha.)

Hi, Jo, your little boy fountain is based on a famous statue called "The Little Boy of Belgium"! As the story I heard goes, it was commissioned by a king of Belgium when his little son went missing; the king said that, when they found him, he wanted a statue made of whatever the child was doing. Voila! I have this statue on a charm bracelet of charms I collected from all the countries we visited when I was a child. Fun story, huh?

The Link Within posts at the bottom of each post change when you refresh or open the blog again so you will know what Susan is talking about, this is the fountain post she was referring to.

A smile for Joanna

Thanks Susan for the story, pretty nifty. I bet you have more great stories with your charms. :)

Bag Blog, thanks on the pears. It was a challenge for sure. I took a good photo, I think, and will post it soon.

I like the verification word, sounds like you have a southern drawl, ation! :-)
