Well, I washed my TracFone, LG 600, on Saturday. The washer here is a front loading one and we couldn't figure out how to stop it. It had already been in there for most of the wash cycle anyway We opened it up to dry out and went to Taos to get a new one. We came back and I plugged it in to charge. On Sunday morning I called to activate the phone, I wanted to keep my number so I couldn't do it on line. We went through hundreds of numbers in the codes box and re-booted and redid anything the techs (in the Phillapines) could think of. When I would dial, the "phone" would say that they could not supply roaming in this area. After telling one of the techs that my other phone worked fine here, I finally talked to a supervisor that investigated where we were, first thinking we were in Mexico, not New Mexico. Finally she said that they work with Verizon here and I needed a phone with a SIM card in New Mexico.
Why does Wal-Mart sell phones that do not work in this area?? Grrr. In frustration I put my first phone back together and guess what? It worked.
Now they had to transfer my minutes and phone number back to my old phone. Somewhere in the conversation the tech had to take all my information and said I would need a new SIM card which would take 14 days and be sent to Bastrop. I was tired of arguing so just said, "OK, but the phone is working. Do whatever you have to."
We tested it and I can call out, but not receive calls which means my phone number was not activated.
I went online to reactivate the phone, which already shows my minutes returned and the phone number. It says that I cannot activate the phone until I receive the new SIM card.
I called this morning, and was advised the wait would be five minutes and to start with a charged phone. So I am charging the phone and will call again and see if we can get it activated. Wish me luck.
In the meantime, send me an e-mail and I will call you on Gene's iPhone. :) Do you suppose that if I had had an iPhone I would have washed it?? Gene says, "Yes!" Sigh.......
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

You have my sincerest sympathy.. not sure which is worse... technology that doesn't do what it should or support techs that don't tell you what they should! Aaarrgh!!! :-)
Oh Jo, so much like what I would do.
I do have an Iphone and I check my jeans pockets to make sure I still have it. ;-)
Are you sure you are not in Mexico?
Teresa, Thank you so much. Sometimes I think I am just tech savy enough to get in trouble. :)
Peggy, I usually empty my pockets. Make that USUALLY. Obviously I don't do it all the time. :)
Bag Blog, you are familiar with the old New Mexico stories I see. We didn't need a passport or to buy pesos here. Ha.
I ordered a new phone, Tracfone, it is so much cheaper as I only use it when Gene and I are not together. It will come by Fedex and we have to sign, so we shall see how that goes. They didn't have any at Walmart with a SIM card. I still like being in the rural mountains. Ha.
Test comment to see if I get a copy in my e-mail, sorry if you get it, too. ")
Dad's right...you would wash the iPhone! Love you! :-)
Joanna, suppose so. :(
Oh dear, well at least you have a clean phone.. tee hee.
And guess what, my word varification today was DAMM!!!! Appropriate huh?
Rae, very appropriate word! I'm amazed the phone even came on, I'm still making outgoing calls and the battery charged.
