Acrylic Apple Challenge Painting

Jeanette Jobson has an Apple Challenge going on. I love to paint apples so this is right up my alley. I paint apples when I can't think of anything to paint. They usually get me jump started. I didn't have any apples here at the house so I borrowed a photo from the wetcanvas.com images that are posted for artists to use for reference photos. Thank you, ivyleaf.

I wanted to try my luck with acrylics. I usually fall back on pastels when I am in a slump as well, so this was a very different experiment.

I prefer painting from life rather than photos, but I really enjoyed this. The acrylics worked better for me this time. Of course, I was painting inside and didn't have the problem of them drying out as quickly as when I paint with them outside.

Very nice, Jo. I love the way you've applied the darks and lovely shadows. Terrific and totally in charge of acrylics I'd say.

These have a lovely lyrical tilt; they look as if they're dancing!

The apples are really nice. I was thinking about painting tomatoes - we have lots right now.

I agree with Robyn, totally in control Jo. Very nicely done.

Hi Robyn, thank you. I'm getting used to acrylics. They do have some advantages.

Ernest, thank you, too. It is fun when a still life moves. Ha.

Bag Blog, ahhhh. I love tomatoes, too. I like painting with red.

Rose, thank you. You have a very "painterly" touch with acrylics. I loose the brush strokes. Apples are fun to paint.

You got it going on those apples, Jo!! Very nice - good shadows too!

Thanks, Regina. It is pretty hard to go wrong when you work with a good photo and have the composition worked out and the background is plain white. I did enjoy painting and like the results. :)

Great painting Jo. You're a pro with those acrylics. The apples are beautiful. Thanks for finding time to join in.

Teresa, thanks. I'm getting better with the acrylics. It takes practice with any medium and my patience is not that great. :) Slowly but surely.....

Jeanette, thank you. It is a pleasure to join in. Hope to do more, apples are fun and my fall back subject so I should find more to do.
