Sketches for Hunt 139 and New Mexico Photos

I have managed a couple of sketches for Scavenger Hunt 139. These are in the 7 x 10 inch sketchbook with a Micron 05 pen. The Hunts run for nine days with one of the sketchers picking 29 everyday objects. Participants sketch as many as they want in the media they prefer or want to practice with. Artists can do them in any order and as detailed as they prefer. Usually there is a challenge or two added. The artists comment as much as they want to. The idea is to sketch, have fun and not have to worry about what to sketch. For me, the Hunts give me ideas to sketch things I would never sketch instead of sketching landscapes. I have been doing this for three years along with several other artists including Jeanne Grant, who hasn't missed any Hunts. Some of the Hunters drift in and out, stopping by to encourage and be encouraged to keep sketching.

Number 1, local phonebook. The phonebook here is the Taos and area book. Number 2, back scratcher. I substituted a fly swatter as there was no back scratcher. Afterwards, I thought I should have sketched Gene's hand. Shucks.

I will add a few photos so you can see the beautiful area we are in. It is about 8,500 feet above sea level here. The temperatures have been cool which is what we have been looking for. It tried to rain yesterday while we were golfing. We had about an hour lightening delay. No problem, we just had a glass of wine and some chips and salsa. Rough life, eh?

We hope to get DSL internet today. In the meantime I will need an hour or so to post this. Grumble...... Gene is biking, it can't be too much fun as there is a strong wind. He hasn't called to be rescued so he may be in a valley somewhere.

A view of Angel Fire, New Mexico. You can see the high ski run, wow!

The resort golf course here in Angel Fire. This is from the tee on number four.

The Escondida golf course. It is a walking course, nine holes. It is definitely not manicured like a resort and has an abundance of prairie dog holes for extra hazards.

Eagle Nest as you pull into town.

Hummingbirds on the balcony with our view in the background. They come around about a dozen at a time. They fight and buzz around, very noisy.

I see you found Escondida (I always thought that was Escondido). Angel Fire course is very beautiful. I have never played the Taos course, but it is suppose to be very nice too.

Aren't the hummingbirds great!

"Gene's hands" that is funny.

I wish I was there with you! I was ready to come home from vacation. We were home one day and I was ready to go back!

Bag Blog, it could be Escondida. It is a beautiful valley and great place. Price is good too. :) We will do it again for sure. Taos is on the schedule. We will do Black Mesa at Española again, too, that is a neat place. So much to do and so little time!

Valerie, that is always the way. It is beautiful here. And cool, it is 46 degrees at 1030 a.m. :)

Great photos, Jo. I especially like the hummingbirds. Is it cool there? Does it rain there? What does that feel like???

Regina, thanks on the photos. The temp now is 66 degrees F. High is to be 68. The low last night was about 40. It rained night before last almost all night. There were showers around yesterday, we heard the whistle at the golf course saying lightening. We weren't in the rain. I had forgotten how nice rain is. Have you had any lately? I see a 40% chance for Bastrop today. Boy is that needed.

I wore a flannel shirt around when it was raining .. down to about 50 degrees. I hate to rub it in!

Bag Blog and Jo,

It is Valle Escondido. Their motto is:
"It's not Heaven, but you can see it from here". I like the fact they have a drop box if Club House is closed. First place I saw that was in Big Timber, Montana many years ago when Jo and Sue Modrak were attending a work shop and Wally Modrak played golf. It was also a nine hole course. One of the other student's husband told us at dinner one night he had played 54 holes. Wally and I would play 9 holes the go to the Mad Hatter Saloon, drink beer and eat probably the best hamburgers I have ever eaten anywhere.

Wally Modrak and I played golf

Gene, thank you. The Montana trip was wonderful and the Modrak friendship has lasted, eh?

Gene, I think playing nine holes and then heading to the bar sounds like my kind of golf.

JO: NM is beautiful and you captured it so wonderfully.

Bag Blog, it is certainly my kind! I think golf courses should not be over 14 holes. I'm always tired by then. :) (My sign on word "baggyb")

fishing guy, thank you so much.
