Night Street Scene, Pastels

This afternoon I had a little time to work on a challenge from wetcanvas, the Southwest forum. The March Challenge offered three images. One of a San Francisco night scene, one of hot air balloons (I assume from Albuquerque) and a view of Lake Tahoe.

I posted my balloons, Full of Hot Air, on the thread and decided to do a pastel of the street scene, which I posted later.

This was just too small for so much info to try some of the new strokes. I just had to do what fit. It was a fun way to pass away about an hour and a half. Also photos are better taken in the sun, but today was cloudy and it was late. Tomorrow should be without sun, too.

Tomorrow a baseball game is scheduled at 6 p.m. with Baylor. Today it was about 86 degrees at that time. Tomorrow our high is to be 65 degrees about 8 a.m. and is predicted to cool down to about 45 by game time and be rainy. We will go donate blood and then see how cold it feels for the game. If the wind does not blow you can stay sort of warm with plenty of clothes on. We shall have to wait and see. We need the rain, but it could have rained today and be warm tomorrow!

Love the one of the balloons!!! And that night scene...wow!! I still have never tried painting a night scene. I always worry about getting dark enough colors!

Thank you, Joan. I used the black paper for this to save my dark pastels. Ha.

Wow! Love the dancing light in the night scene. You make me want to drag my pastels out and try again with them!
