We live in what is called the piney woods in the Lost Pines area. We know that there is fire danger and it is extremely high at the moment, but we decided to live here and try to be careful. If you don't want to live in the trees, you shouldn't live here. It is the same as hurricanes, floods, etc. If you don't want to live where there are hurricanes, don't live in New Orleans or Galveston.
Gene has cleaned our yard near the house, removed brush and youpon. He tries to keep the pine needles and oak leaves at a minimum. We love our trees. Our neighbors are cleaning out the brush and small trees and they are taking down many of the big trees. Ah, well.

This machine is pushing down trees and brush and mulching it as it goes.

This guy is topping the tree, about four feet at a time. You see him below, too. There are about 6 men working today.

Looks like a busy, busy day for the workers. Anything to help with the fire danger, right?
Valerie, thanks for stopping in. I think the safety part is OK. I do think they are taking down too many trees. Trees are coming down in the area for development in alarming numbers.
