Ghost Town Post

I am always looking for articles about Magdalena, New Mexico, my hometown. I ran into a great post today. Mosey on over to Fantastyk Voyage and check out the post. We, Gene and I, have been to or in all those places. Such nice photos and descriptions. Thank you, Fantastyk Voyage for taking me down memory lane!

There is also a post about , the VLA (Very Large Array), Datil and Pie Town on this post. These are two small towns west of Magdalena on Highway 60.

Magdalena coming in from the West on Highway 60

It is so interesting to read and see what other people "see" in a familiar place. We never thought any of those places were noteworthy when we lived there. We lived through the newer "old days" it seems, and were able to ride on the train, see the stockyards in use, and go trick or treating in the MacTavish house. Pretty noteworthy, indeed! Our parents and grandparents lived in Magdalena through the real "old days".

About 5 years ago we went to the Old Timers Rodeo and Festival to see the old timers and realized suddenly that we are the old timers now. Sad in so many ways! Age creeps up on us and then rushes in full force.

This reminds me to post some old timer stories, I will work on that.

I also love to see pics/read info about my homeland (England) ... glad to see I'm not the only one tied to the past!

RE: "Age creeps up on us then rushes in full force" .... boy, does it ever! I'm leaving the creeping stage and feeling things accelerating!
