Hunting Treats, Sketches

After the wipe off painting day before yesterday, I was all set to paint more today. We went and walked nine holes of golf and it was so beautiful. Up to almost 60 degrees. We came back and my plan was to paint. I looked at the mail and we had the invitation to the Family Crisis Center Annual Dance and Fundraiser. I always paint a new painting to donate for this, so decided to plan that out. The theme is Shipwrecked, so I have been looking for ocean views. That took a while. We are not near the ocean so will have to rely on photos. We have a few from Canada so I spent the afternoon reminiscing as well. End result no painting. But, I do have a plan for a painting.

The new Scavenger Hunt 116 is up and running, so dropped in there for the new list. Found my number 1, favorite treat - wine, coffee and chocolate. You should all know that by now. This was with the Micron 05 and took about 10 minutes. The cup is from the Texas Work Force, given to me at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon.



If you are new to my blog, I sketch freehand with ink normally. I like that it is immediate and I can't change it, well, not much. When I am at my best, I try to look well and sketch with a firm line quickly. It is practice for painting to me. Then when I paint, especially plein air (live, outside) I can get the image and light down quickly before the light changes. The sketching does help and it is good practice for drawing accurately. I tend to be lazy and not work out a plan. I am impatient and get bored if I have to go over and over something so this quick sketching helps me paint quickly, too, after having a good look and then put down the correct lines.
