Turtle and Crow Photos and Note

It was a beautiful day today. We went to the golf course and played a while. The weather was perfect. Here are a few photos to give you an idea and make you folks that live in the deep freeze up north a bit jealous. The snow is beautiful to see ..... from here ..... in photos and paintings.

Some of the turtles on hole number eight.

And a crow sitting and flying away. This is mainly for Chuck Law. He likes crows. He is a great artist that is pursuing plein air painting at present. I started reading his blog some time back when he was painting sunglasses in the sand, I think. He did a series of shell fish and feathers. Some highly detailed items, too. Check out his website, cool stuff!

And, Gene chipping on hole number eight.

When we got home, I decided to try my new Golden Open acrylics. I got one of my NEW canvas boards and headed out to the deck. I painted one of the bird feeders. The paints are interesting. They stay wet longer than regular acrylics and when they start getting tacky if you put new paint down they go wet again. This is new to learn .... not like acrylics that dry before you can blend and not like oil as you disturb the first stroke more easily. At least, I do. I did a small painting, probably about two hours. Gene came out to see what I was doing and took off on his bike, so I enjoyed the quiet time in the late sun. I tried taking a photo with my new lights, but the paint was still tacky and reflected too much. It was too late to take a photo outside I will try some real daylight tomorrow.

Until then .......

South Texas is looking especially beautiful this time of year. The new acrylics sound interesting. Sometimes in the summer months my acrylics dry before I can get it to the canvas - okay that was an exaggeration, but close.

It was a great day yesterday - so nice for this time of year. Great photos, Jo! My two young neighbors and I are going out to draw a tree today. I love your water shots!

Jo: Okay, it's official, you made me jealous with these shots. We have lost the snow covering so we are at an ugly point in time. Snow should cover tonight and bring my world back to equilibrium.

Bag Blog, that is the way acrylics have always worked. These were still a little tacky after a couple of hours. Hmmmm.

Regina, thanks. Today should be another great day for your tree drawing.

fishing guy, we lived in Denver a couple of years and I remember how pretty it would look when it snowed, you are right there. The law was you had to clear your sidewalks within the day. Gene always managed to be traveling somewhere down south and I was shoveling. Not my thing!

Valerie, they are interesting. Will have to practice with them. They also dry darker, like all acrylics for me. Working with pastels so much, I always forget that.
