How very sad, Jo.
This is the first I am hearing of it.

Leslie, yes it is sad. I liked him even before he was popular, sigh.

Jo: I saw this happened a little earlier. Favorite Paul Newman movie: 'Cool Hand Luke'.

fishing guy, Yes, that is good, the clip shows him singing, I had forgotten that. We always remember the line about "What we have here is a failure to communicate." I think it is. "Sometimes a Great Notion" was good, too.

Bummer...he was my favorite actor too! I didn't realize he had passed. My favorite movie of his is "Cool Hand Luke".

Valerie, such a bummer. Guess he accomplished a lot. Generous and dependable.

We watched "The Long Hot Summer" on TV at the Mear house sometime this summer and Greg could *not* fathom in the least little bit why Paul's character would be pining away for Joanne Woodward's character (who was all serious and proper) when Lee Remick's character was being all beautiful and fun.

I, of course, thought of you when I heard the news, Mom. :(

Joanna, cool story. Thanks for thinking of me. :)

What a wonderful eulogy to Paul Newman. In our society===and especially the Hollywood scene, it is rare to find such a talented, charismatic person as he was. I was glad that the article mentioned his wife and children. Being such private people, the news media must have chosen not to share this information...which is unusual for them. What a philanthropist! He will be remembered as an icon! Thanks for sharing the article.

susan, I agree with you. Pretty neat guy it would seem.

Mary Sheehan Winn, thanks for stopping by. Classy for sure.
