Sketches and Photos in Magdalena

Yesterday evening I had a chance to do a couple of sketches from the motel. I was using a Pigma Brush pen. No fine line details with that.

This was a chemise bush and a fence. The fenced had poles made of pipe, but.......

Magdalena Mountain from the side.

About the view I was sketching from. Click here for more info about the mountain. You will have to scroll down a short way.

The sky looking one way and then the other. Wow. More today I imagine.

The mountain sketch is great. It is kind of like those beautiful sky photos - if you painted them, no one would believe they were so wild and beautiful. The mountain is so barren and majestic - who would believe a sketch until you show the photo?

Pretty clouds!

Ah, fun to have comments at the end of a long day. The show went well.

Joan, thanks. We sat out on the stoop of the motel and I sketched until it got too cold. Hard to imagine after the 100s we had been having in Texas.

Bag blog, I never thought the mountain was neat when I lived here, just the same old thing. Pretty neat now.

Thanks, Joanna.

See y'all.

Your sketch of the mountain may be my favorite of all your sketches ever. Wow. And those skies put San Antonio's skies to shame.
Hope your show went well!

Jo: I love the first sketch, it is superb.

Hey Susan and Fishing Guy, Thanks so much. Maybe sketching with a Brush pen is more like painting. Ha. It is fast and thick lines with no opportunity to correct.

It was fun.

I'm a sucker for great cloud photos. Gorgeous. Some day I'm going to paint a bunch of cloud studies.

Hi Nancy, thanks. I was always going to paint clouds, too. I even took a class with Will Klemm in Austin.
