Wildflower Closeups for Katherine

Here are a couple of photos for Katherine Tyrrell . She asked for some closeups. I'm always happy to oblige with more photos of wildflowers. (Joanna was here on Sunday and took some, too, and they will be on her Photobox soon. She has some there now if you scroll down and check the archives.)

Jo: Just beautiful, I can only dream of wildflowers for now. Spring is coming, I'm sure.

Aren't those pretty!! I never knew what Spiderwort were called - they look a lot like the Day Flower, which is my favorite wildflower.
Thank you for taking these, Jo. Always nice to see our beautiful Texas wildflowers in detail, if not in person!

Regina, hi. I got the name of the flower, Spiderwort, from a flower field guide. They look much more purple in the book, so maybe Day Flower is correct! Thanks for stopping by.

Valerie, you are welcome anytime! Come on down!

Gosh - how pretty!

The Indian Blanket and the Indian Paintbrush are so VIVID. The only thing we have here that in any way matches that colour is the red field poppy. The Paintbrush looks as if it might be a distant relation of rosebay willowherb.

I had no idea the blue bonnets were so BIG!

That's a jolly nice lot of Spring wildflowers

Katherine, the colors are amazing. About 4 years ago on a trip to NM we passed through an area between Marble Falls and Brady where the bluebonnets were as far as you could see across the hills. It was dry this year so they aren't as spectacular. Still fun to see.

Thanks for stopping by...
