We are back home. Here are a few photos from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Bastrop, Texas. I picked a few that are different than the ones from
Bastrop to Grants, New Mexico.
This is the foothills as you are leaving Albuquerque into Tijeras Canyon. There was nothing on these hills a few years ago. Wow.
This is between Vaughn, New Mexico and Roswell, New Mexico. The fence is a snow fence to keep drifts off of the road. Notice it is only on the west side. Hmmm. Those prevalent winds, huh? Not as windy coming back as going on this trip. It was a tailwind so helped our gas mileage. Vaughn is a railroad switching place and is almost a ghost town.
This mural is in the small town of Tatum, New Mexico. You will notice that the street signs are wrought iron. It is nice to see art in small towns.
Into Texas now. A combination of oil wells and cotton fields.
The wind farms near San Angelo, Texas. There are so many wind chargers. I would guess in the thousands. They go as far as you can see.
This sign on the wall of a business is in Eden, Texas. Venison is not my favorite meat, I don't like the smell. I guess some people eat it up. :)
Back into the Hill Country near Marble Falls, Texas. A beautiful rock wall. The property is for sale. Big bucks, I bet, both dollars and deer!
You can tell we are in Texas.
Between Austin and Bastrop, back to wildflowers on the road.

Jo: Wonderful catalog of your trip. I'm glad your back and that you stopped by. I'm waiting for some great sketches soon. We were at freezing this morning so we are warming up.
How interesting to see the change in the terrain - and I still love Texas. But it's all pretty. Glad you're back - those pines look cool and comforting.
Jeanne, I have never been to Bakersfield. From some of your photos and comments I thought it might be a dessert. You have closer mountains, don't you? Thanks for the visit.
Fishing guy, Thanks again. I hope to get back in the art mode. I did a little sketching in the car, but not anything to show and not as much as I usually do.
Regina, there are lots of barren plains on this route. When we go to Magdalena we go through the Hondo Valley, Lincoln and Capitan, New Mexico and the views are prettier. They have pine trees, too. That is where Smokey the Bear came from.
Jo- I'm sorry for the reason for your trip to Albuquerque and glad you're home. Thank you for the photo journal of your sights along the way.
