Sketchbook Sketch for Hunt

For Scavenger Hunt #78, on wetcanvas.com, (wet canvas is off line at the moment so I can't post this there ..drat - hopefully it is back on when you read this) number 2, something checkered, my sketchbook. About an hour in my regular sketchbook with a Pilot ball point pen and colored pencils.

We were housebound after a medical test for Gene so TV was our thing. I did manage this sketch during a movie. Sort of fun to mess with drawing checks and making different colors with different patterns. After I was done I decided to go ahead and color it. The sketchbook was a gift from my art buddy, Sue Modrak.

As you know I rarely use colored pencils so these haven't been used much that are in the packet on the front of the sketchbook. I have trouble using colored pencils as they take patience to color many layers to develop beautiful results. I want instant results, so I like pastels for color. I like oil painting when I feel like using a brush, but oils don't like me, I get a headache. Therefore, I try acrylics and am getting used to them, too.

I did try colored pencils on Pastelbord the other day and that went better. I will try fixing that sketch and post the results. Nicole Caulfield uses that system so she can frame without glass. Her work is amazing, huh? Check back to see how mine came out.

What fun to come see what you're up to and find sketches IN COLOR! Cool. When you're not in lock-down, come visit me and we'll play in the colors. Hope Gene's doing ok.

I like the color in this checkerboard pattern. Isn't it frustrating not to be able to get into WetCanvas? I have my sketches all done. Hope everything is ok with Gene.

Thanks, Joan. Yes, about wetcanvas. I hope they aren't making it more difficult to use. :) Gene seems fine, frustrating for him to be house bound. They told him he can't go back to his regular schedule for a few days. He says because of the weather his regular schedule was watching TV and sitting around. :) So more of that!

Jo, Best wishes to Gene, hope he likes basketball! :D Good on you for having a go with the colored pencils. You are right that they can be annoying slow, but they are also much easier to use sitting on the couch than pastels or paints! :D

Rose, you are right about the pencils on the couch! Gene is better, I'll post on that in my baseball post I'm doing. Thanks.
