Below is what I posted previously and you have read and commented on. Thanks.
I should never say, "This is the final photo," until the painting is in the frame. Well, that doesn't even work as I have been known to have Gene take something out of the frame to change it. I had this painting in my bedroom and this morning I woke up and decided to add a little more 'pop' to it. See what you think.
This is the 'old' Water Canyon,
Soft Pastel, 10 x 16 inches
Here is a link to the post about the painting.

This is a detail from the painting (click to make it bigger), you can see the roughness of the board. It is a piece of masonite finished with Colourfix Medium. It is nice to have the added texture in a landscape.
By the way, this post means I have been painting today. I worked on my painting for the Austin Pastel Society Corridor of Art Juried Show as well. About time! Photos and entries are due January 11. Whew!

Excellent!
Nicely done, Jo. That colourfix sounds like a good thing to experiment with. Happy 2008 to you
Joanna, Thanks! I painted without getting out all the pastels and setting my stuff up. Will have to do better tomorrow. :) I did have the pastels out that I had used on the new painting so that was OK.
Karen, Hi! The Colourfix is so easy. Just brush it on or you can smooth it with another layer or a little sanding. I like the roughness. I used a dark sort of burgundy color. It goes a long way as well. Happy New Year to you, too.
I like the "pop" in the "last painting".
Bag Blog, thank you so much. I notice there are no "Ws" in this post. :) How is the new laptop? I'll have to go read your blog I guess. Hmmm.
Jo, I hadn't noticed the 3 similar hills the first time, but I know if someone pointed it out on my painting I would fix it too. It does look a lot better. It is a lovely painting. Good luck with the show.
Joan, I hadn't noticed them either, but the painting 'feels' better now. :) Thanks.

Jo: I enjoyed your paintings. The Water Canyon is much improved with the change. I enjoy scenery painting and you do them well. I found you from Rick Lee's sight. I will add you to artist on my blog.
The post is under Happy New Year, but I couldn't move it.
Thank you, fishing guy, for posting. I'll answer in the other post. :)
Just WOW. Are you amazed?
Be proud.
Leslie, thank you, too. It is always amazing to me how one little crooked line or something so small can make such a difference. Must be one reason why portraits are so difficult.
