It was
Joanna's pre birthday party today. We will be away for her birthday so we celebrated today. I decided to make a gluten free cake and fool everyone. Well, I 'sort of' doubled the recipe in the book and it came out more like carrot biscuits instead of carrot cake. Oh my. It tasted good though, but no one was fooled. I have the best regular carrot cake recipe in the world so this one wasn't close. At least I could get in on the cake eating. Gene cooked his famous brisket. Jennie and the granddogs were here and Larry. In fact Larry was the first one here .. he is usually late so that made the day even better. Ha. Joanna liked her gifts, all from her wish list and a CD she didn't have, so how could she not like them? And, as they say, a good time was had by all.
This evening I worked on my
Peppers Art Gallery page on my web site and added some more of the paintings that are already at the gallery. I think I have most of my gear ready for our trip. That is a good feeling .. so what am I forgetting?
Peppers Window
Pastel 8 x 10 inches, plein air
This painting is sold. Thanks Marky!

I'm glad you are getting caught up. Not fun to have to rush everything at the last minute. I can't imagine moving between two places every year.
Are you intolerant to gluten? My mom is allergic to beans and it is hard to weed out things that have a bean base. She just can't go to a Mexican restaurant at all. Too much chance she will get some. Even bean juice gets her.
I really like the shadows on this painting.
I had a great time yesterday. Thanks a lot. It occurs to me that we should've taken a photo of that cake. Then people would understand why none of us were fooled! Heh.
Jeanne, We are taking less stuff this year. We are learning little by little. I do take most of my "studio". I always think I MIGHT need it. :)
Yes, I'm gluten intolerant. I thought I would loose weight when I quit eating bread, but I make up for it with corn tortillas and chips to replace the bread. I miss sandwiches the most. We just figured it out about 2 years ago.

Joanna, I like the shadows, too. I think I capture moods better in quick paintings like this one, no time to ponder the whys and wherefores. Too much thinking and the mood/idea passes.
I'll go see how much cake is left. But the photo op may have passed as well.
Hugs,
M
When I was looking at the group of pictures for Pepper's, this is the one I clicked on first to see larger.
I really like window and doorway pictures.
This is a good drawing, Jo.
Oh, how did you get the photo of "what it looks like through my new glasses" to go trapezoid? Very clever if you actually shot the pic through the eyeglasses:)
Hi Leslie, Thank you for the drawing comments. Perspective is not my strong point. I like that painting and it was fun doing it that day at Peppers.
The desktop photo was fixed in PhotoDeluxe an old program with a few of Photo Shop's features one of which is to distort photos or straighten them. Wonder about snapping it through the lens, hmmmm?
Jo
I really love the shadows on this one too - before I read the other comments! :-)
It makes think of summer on a quiet street and cicadas putting me to sleep...
Regina,
Ahhhh, thanks. Here though, no cicadas only crickets. They are singing as I type. It is nice and quiet. Lots of fireworks the last 3 nights, but peaceful tonight. :)
