I'm back to the Scavenger Hunts, number 38. I see I forgot to number them. :( The idea is to sketch 26 items in nine days. Usually there is a challenge thrown in. You can sketch any way you want and any order. It is a way to find something to sketch without thinking about it. I normally sketch the same things over if I don't have a list. The challenges may be to use your other hand, different media, etc. It is good for me and has enough challenge to keep me sketching. My personal challenge is to sketch without erasing or pre drawing with a pencil. I want to practice being sure with my lines and faster. Learning to "see" better before I make a mark. I think this will help so much with painting and planning my paintings. It is not my favorite part of painting, I like to splat on the color and make forms with color. Guess I should be an abstract artist, huh? But, I keep trying and slowly my drawing skills are getting better.
I have to do some of this hunt as I will be hosting #39 and need to be ready. Come on over and join us and see some of the different styles and meet some interesting artists. Some are very detailed, almost to a finished drawing for framing, some are quick but sure, some beginners, some use watercolor and other loose media. Have a look see! No pressure! Just fun. It is fun, isn't it? I'm trying to see practice as fun..... Hmmmm.
#1 is the BBQ grill. Ours is covered and I'm lazy. 10 minutes. These four done with the Pilot Pen in the Blank Page sketch book.
#3 is a weed, 10 minutes with 5 right by the weed and desertion for the mosquitos and finished behind the screen on the porch!
#4 Insect, the crushed mosquito that I got. A hah!
#5 A pair of hands - with a challenge to draw with your left hand. The right hand was drawn with the left and the left with the right. Can you tell I am right handed? Oh my.
I make the photos this size so I can use the same ones for the wetcanvas.com site. They are a little smaller than my usual blog photos. Is that OK?
I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Hi Jo! Sorry to have been out of touch. It's fun to see your new sketches. Kept hoping I'd get a call saying I'd won a painting of yours in the raffle. Alas! It was not to be so.
Hope to see you soon,
Susan
Susan, I keep thinking we will get down there to eat or something. One of these days. More disappointments than winners in raffles. Ha.
See ya,
Jo
I can't draw at all with my left hand so that's a mighty impressive drawing of your right hand! Cool.
Thanks, Joanna. I was a little surprised, but did run out of room. :) Oh well,
Hugs,
Mom
