Sketching again .. about time!

I sketched last night (March 18, Sunday - it will be Tuesday by the time I finish this, not Monday.)while we watched a movie, well, I listened to the movie. After I finished I thought I would check the Scavenger Hunt to see if anything fit. You know, it wouldn't. I sketched in a sketchbook I got in 1999 at a Matisse exhibit in Ft. Worth. I took it to my first International Pastel Society Convention in Albuquerque. What fun that was. Made some great friends and learned so much. One artist I met was Anne McClure. She is so much fun, we have corresponded ever since. I hadn't linked to her, so this is the time. :)

Back to the sketching. The sketchbook is not great for water, but has smooth paper for ink. It is about 6 x 9 inches in the sketching area. The sketches were done with a Micron 05, burnt umber. A reminder, I don't erase when I sketch. I am trying to "see" better and be quick with my lines. These sketches were about 45 minutes total. They are practice!

The flowers I received for my reception. (Post about that tomorrow, I hope. There is a baseball game in the evening.) Some pink and off white (almost beige) daisies from Susan and Karen and some red and yellow tulips, not red tulips and yellow tulips, from Lea. Gene liked this sketch. I'll put a photo at the end of this post of the flowers in color.

My foot and knee. These shoes are about shot and they have been in many sketches as my favorite shoes.

The pot and pine cones are by the fireplace, this runs into the couch and flyers in the sketch, but aren't in life. Ha. The pine cones are stuck on that limb, it is pretty large. Maybe Gene can remember where they are from??

And the colorful flowers.

Just saying howdy to the best host in Texas! It's fun to see your sketches, Jo. Had Pastel class today and came home with pastel up to my elbows. Love it!
See you soon,
Susan

Thank you, on both counts. The door is always open.

Your show looks great, Jo! You have it all together - we just need to keep it fun, right??

Regina, You are right. Fun is the most important part, I think. We get bogged down in the mechanics of it all sometimes.
