Sketches, Meet the Artist and Baseball

We went to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center on the way to the baseball game. Our friend and potter, Lea Cundy was there for a "Meet the Artist" afternoon. She has had her pottery for sale in the gift shop for over a year, I think. Nice place! We had not been there for over ten years. The grounds and plants have matured and changed! It is part of the University of Texas, now.

I did my sketching for the Scavenger Hunt at the baseball game as I had to sketch a baseball cap and sunglasses. Actually, I did the first sunglasses on the way in the car. It was my sunglasses, what I can see when looking through them, down the road. Boy what bad perspective! Looks like we were floating off the road. :) (Remember, these sketches are practice! This one was done in a moving vehicle and the others of moving people. I know, excuses, excuses.)

At the game I sketched some hats on some people near us. A straw hat as well, .. it was at the ball game. Some sunglasses, too.

Then I sketched some of the players. I'm not great at sketching moving people, but it was interesting.

More people and the bus in the outfield. A hard hat must be included as they are refurbishing the stadium and are selling hard hats with the Longhorn logo on them. When they play the National Anthem and the workers are there, they ask that the men remove their hats and hard hats. :)

The Longhorns beat the Kansas State Wildcats 14 - 3. Whew. Two big hitting games in a row and fantastic pitching for the Longhorns. Kyle Russell has 15 home runs. Amazing. Read all about it on the official page. Later you can check out Joanna's observations on her page.
