There they are again. I was actually taking a photo of the horses and there are those mountains. I must have 20 photos of them by now. They are interesting and sit in the middle of the flats between Magdalena and Albuquerque.
In my absence, I have done a couple of sketches and an attempted portrait of my daughter as an exercise. I don't do portraits. I was doing ok on the likeness and color at first, but the face kept growing! I was working with pastels and every touch changes everything. As I corrected an edge or added a highlight, the width kept changing. Just need practice as I do think I had the likeness down pretty well. We were doing the portrait at Peppers Gallery in Magdalena, outside in the weather. The first day the wind and dust blew so hard we had to give up. Then on Saturday, my model had to go watch the Texas Longhorns whomp up on Oklahoma, so we only had a couple of hours into the portrait.
Sunday I painted one of the windows of the Peppers Gallery, plein air pastel. I will post that soon.
I have been on dial up so haven't posted anything and we are in a hotel in Albuquerque and I do not have any photos of the art work to post. Hopefully in a few days.
We hope to see the hot air balloons at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in the morning. Hope to have some great photos for inspiration for some paintings.
More down the road......
