I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States. This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.

Clouds and Sketches
What a day for clouds. We played golf this morning and every direction you looked was another, "Wow, look at those clouds!" So I am posting a couple, will be a repeat of one if you read Gene's blog.
I sketched #4 - clouds at the golf course. I planned to do a bridge for the Scavenger hunt, but by the time we got to the bridges the groups were moving faster as it was threatening rain. I sketched the clouds when we started as we had to wait a couple of minutes at each hole. Then this afternoon I made a latte (salute to Sue) and sketched the candle, etc., out on the table on the patio. They are in the Canson book with the ZIG Millenium pen. Photos aren't great as the light was gone so snapped in the kitchen. The paper is white. I have 10 items already. Fast for me.
There are three challenges in the hunt this time. 1. Draw the same object using three different mediums and papers. 2. Put a small object in your pocket and draw it by feel only and 3. Illustrate the word "simplicity". Hmmmm. Something to think about. One of the items on the list is the view out your back door. The door on the front of the house is into the kitchen, so is that the back door? The other door, out the dining/living room on the side of the house opens to the back yard and front drive. More like a back door. However, looking out is the rail of the porch and the wooden fence. Hard to differentiate between the woods in one color. May do the kitchen door.
I hope to paint tomorrow, that is the plan anyway. We will go out for a while to a gem and mineral show and to the Art at the Dry Ditch. The art show is along a river walk along the dry ditch through town. At the moment it has running water, but I'm sure no one minds. It looks nice with the water in it. The high is supposed to be 72 and 40% chance of rain. Hope it doesn't rain out the show.

Those are pretty clouds. Both the photos and the sketch.
Aren't they something? I am just amazed at the beautiful skies here. Sunsets haven't been as spectacular as Magdalena, maybe the sun goes down behind the mountains in the west too early?? 50% chance of rain today. Art may be rained out!
