Evenings in Magdalena are spectacular. The temperature is about 75 degrees at sunset, it is quiet and a few birds around. There are some barking dogs, people seem to ignore leash and barking dog codes. The photo is the sunset today of the Magdalena Mountain. The sketch was done with a blue Sharpie in about 15-20 minutes in my sketchbook, about 8 x 10 inches, that Sue gave me. It has a watch decorated with a palette, and then glued on to the cover with gold lettering, "Take Time to Sketch! "
So it is about time that I begin to fill it up It is a Canson, with nice paper. As you see, my sketching needs practice ... here we go!
**Note, I tried posting this last night, between using AOL Dialup, Safari and Blogger I had no results. Today I'm using Firefox and it appears to work. So this if for July 11

You just casually drew that with a blue Sharpie, eh? Why is it the ability to casually draw something that actually looks like the something you're drawing (with a permanent marker, no less!) just skipped me by? Grandma could do it. And, you can do it. But, me? Nope. So sad.
By the way, I'm not saying I'm completely talentless. I can take a nice photo from time to time and have a way with Photoshop. But, geesh.
Well, my drawing is very much in need of practice and that is what it takes. I didn't put up the other sad efforts. I recall that you used to doodle quite interesting patterns and designs... hmmm. Maybe you get the interest in photography from your Grandmother as well...she did love the rainbows and sunsets.
