New Hunt for a Palm

Already a new Hunt and one item was "palm frond or unusual leaf".  At Gene's PT, I found this tall plant.  Looks a bit like a palm.  It is about 6 feet tall, I just did the bottom half.  I sketched for about 25 minutes doing the sketch and watercolor on my lap with the water brushes.

For Scavenger Hunt from Life 177 https://creativespark.art/threads/scavenger-hunt-177-04-16-december-2025.8534/  The Hunt started on the 4th  so I am late to the party.

Number 1 palm frond - sub this plant in the small Strathmore Visual Journal sketchbook.  Nice paper for water.  I never liked Strathmore pastel paper, it was slick and didn't hold pastels.  Hopefully they improved.  I sketched with an Ohuhu .2 pen.

I've been making some gift tags for the great grands.  Gene helped me paint the wooden "balls for the tree".  I got them at Hobby Lobby.  I wanted Christmas trees or Texas shapes, but this was all they had left.  I got some small gifts for the kiddos so they will have something to open.  The tags will make it a bit more interesting.

Gene painted the solid colors and I added the decorations.  I won't show them here until after so they will be a surprise.  Some look at my blog once in a while.

We decided not to bring the decorations for Christmas down from the attic so I bought a little tree and decorations.  Got a bow for the mailbox and that is it.  Now I'm missing our old ornaments with all the history and memories they bring up.  Oh, well.  We will also have less time with the kiddos so I need to make some of the food ahead of time that Jennie and I do just a day before Christmas.  We will have more "play" time that way.

Wish me luck.

Nice sketch of the plant. I haven't done any decorating except for the artificial Christmas wreath on the front door. I need to get moving on the decorating and making my cards.
In the spring we had some painting done and I cleaned out the closet that has most of my Christmas items. I got rid of a lot, but still have all the ornaments that are so precious. That's why I still have to put up the tree. Luckily our tree and ornaments aren't hard to reach...all on the same level as us. I can just slide the cartons out of the closet.

Thanks, Joan. You do have interesting ornaments that you have sketched over the years. We need to get rid of the excess stuff and put the memories in a downstairs place. I could have room in my art closet if i cleaned it out!
