I don't like to sketch "yourself", uh, me. But the model is handy and using FaceTime on my iMac for my mirror is also handy. I didn't have to go anywhere for the item to sketch or equipment to sketch with.

We are getting rain today so hopefully it is over an inch. We need the moisture. Not good to live under a burn ban, even though we don't burn.
I am really feeling for the California folks in the fires. We lost our house in 2011 in the big Bastrop Fire as you recall. https://jocastilloartblog.blogspot.com/search?q=bastrop+fire
The fire here was mostly homes and the State Park. Two lives lost and almost 1700 homes. It was horrific and luckily we were gone to New Mexico so had our computers, etc. with us. The wind was awful here as well and it was very dry. The fire moved so fast. Evacuating people and animals was first and foremost before fighting the fire. The first responders did a fantastic job. The fire spread so fast. After the fire we at least had businesses, schools, restaurants, hotels and jobs.
The people in California lost homes, schools, businesses (jobs), and other infrastructure. They have nothing. I cannot imagine what they are going through. The people that didn't lose their homes will suffer power outages and water shortages.
We did have the theft. People stole the metal they could sell and things that didn't burn. That is the lowest to steal from people that are already down. Hopefully the Los Angelinos will help each other and can realize it is only "stuff" and be thankful their family is safe now. Thinking of them and hoping the people in charge will learn and plan better for future disasters. They knew about fires and earthquakes you would think.

R's Rue, thank you...
Good sketch of yourself. I've been following the news about the fires. Luckily my nephew who lived in the LA area with his family moved to San Diego about 1 1/2 years ago. His in-laws had to evacuate the other day and are staying with them in San Diego. They have quite a few friends up there who lost their homes already. It is amazing the devastation out there. You know what it is like...so scary! Nobody should have to go through that.
Thanks, Joan. Since our fire the county has really cleaned up and keeps the area more fireproofed. They have controlled burns in the forrest and cut down the undergrowth. California has really dropped the ball in that area. Of course nothing can be done about the winds. Sigh. So sad. I feel for the folks out there. Hope your family fares well. Thinking of them.
