Watercolor Cosmos

I'm hosting the Watercolor Challenge on creativespark.art this month.  All the photos are my personal photos.  It is always a challenge for me to paint cosmos in any media.  They are light and airy.  It is difficult to make them look light and airy.

I worked on this sketch for a couple of hours and finally just put it to the side.  After it dried completely it wasn't as bad as it had been in my mind.  I will post it now, I wasn't going to.

This is on Arches, 140 lb., cold pressed paper, 9 x 12 inches.  You can click on the image to see it a bit larger.

I took a few photos of the beginnings of flowers in the yard.  We might get a few more bluebonnets this year and I'm hoping the back will be full of Indian Paintbrush and more.  There is a start.

Bluebonnets

Not sure what these tiny flowers are.

Indian Paintbrush

The photos are a bit fuzzy as the breeze was a-blowin'.

The delicate petal on the cosmos aren't easy to capture, but you did a nice job.

I've been seeing the beginnings of spring flowers popping up, but haven't stopped to paint any. It has either been too cold or much too windy. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the mid 60s, but we have lunch plans with friends so I don't know if I will get to paing outdoors at all. I did buy some daffs yesterday to bring spring into the house.

R's Rue, thanks. You make me smile.

Joan, thank you. I saw a couple more bluebonnets across the drive. I have to mark them so the guys don't mow them down. They are too early I think.
