I am an artist that paints in pastels, with some oils, and acrylics. I sketch in pen and ink. As an artist my original paintings are influenced from living in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, and travels throughout much of Canada and all our fifty States.
This is my spot for posting paintings and sketches, to muse mostly about art, life and a little about UT Baseball.
And for art I found this YouTube video by Karen Margulis about sanded paper that doesn't need mounting when you do a wet under painting. I am ordering some today! I have been disappointed with the UArt in that regard. I've followed Karen for years on wetcanvas and her blog and painting videos. She is very generous and a good teacher. I found Karen's video helpful in using a wet under painting and painting mountains and flowers.
We went out for a Veteran's Day lunch yesterday. Smokey Bones was one of the restaurants honoring the vets with a free lunch/dinner so Jerry took advantage of it. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Luckily he didn't have to serve in Viet Nam. The best part of being in Germany was that was where he met his buddy, Wally who lives in Texas. They've been best buds since then.
Oh how nice, Joan. We forget about that. Nice to have "old" friends. I guess that is who you were visiting that time when we met in San Antonio. Great memories. Thank Jerry for his service for us.
I Grew up in a small town , Magdalena, New Mexico. I enjoy art and the pleasure other people get from my work. I always donate some of my sales and art to charities, especially for children. That started in Bolivia with Para los Niños.
