We had an unplanned day in Austin yesterday. Gene's tire has been going flat on his trike and we have been airing it up every other day. His regular trike shop closed and we finally found a place to get it worked on, the Bike Farm in Austin. We loaded up the trike in the Expedition and guess what? It wouldn't start. Luckily our friend, Chuck, came with his jumper cable charger and we got it going. We have a small charger but the connection cable is not the right one. Where is the right one??? Mystery.
So we took off to Austin. The trike would take about an hour they said. Good we could get the battery checked. There was a small auto repair right next door. They checked the battery, alternator, etc. and we decided to get a new battery. They didn't have one, so it would be about another hour. Perfect. It was cool sitting in the shade at the Bike Farm.
We called Joanna to tell her and she was nearby so she picked us up and we went for a sandwich at Jimmy John's. Such good rolls for the sandwiches. I have a lettuce wrap of course. Fun to see and visit with Joanna. We got back to the car and trike, settled up and drove home via Elgin where we stopped at the H.E.B. grocery store and came on home. Sort of a long day. The grocery in Elgin is not as big as our H.E.B. in Bastrop so they didn't have a few things. Sigh....
I had time for a quick sketch at the Bike Farm in the Canson drawing sketchbook with the Acurit 03 pen.

Number 1 vehicle - a bike in the rack, front wheel at an angle, doesn't show well in my sketch.
This morning I sketched at my desk in the BookFactory sketchbook with the Acurit 03 pen for Inktober Day 18.
Day 18, Saddle - my cousin's, J. D., saddle he won for bareback riding in 2004. Pretty nifty. I think we saw him for that win and had dinner after with the family. It was a special day.
This photo is from a few years later, J.D.'s daughter was using the saddle for her roping and barrel riding. Isn't that a beautiful horse? The saddle was perfect for my sketch. I don't have one for sketching from life for the Hunts.

Nice bike sketch. Love the saddle…would be fun to have one for sketching.
Joan, thank you so much. I would like to still have a saddle .... and horse!
