Quiet and Bright Sketches

Gene went on his trike so I walked to the third bridge on the easterly side of the lakes.  The path is between the two lakes at this point.  Remember a while back I forgot to take a pen or pencil for my sketch and did it in direct watercolor?  Today I wanted to sketch in ink and add watercolor.  So my checklist:

  • Ohuhu Mix Media sketchbook - accepts watercolor
  • Micron 03 pen
  • Waterbrush
  • Paper towel
  • Phone since Gene was on his trike

All items checked and in my hand or pockets.

I sat and sketched the ink part of the first sketch.  Opened the watercolors, got the waterbrush and went to work.  After a few swipes on the towel to clean for the next color, I realized the brush was out of water!  First time I let that happen.  I was close to the house had not taken water to drink or use for painting.  I quickly sketched the second sketch with the pen and came back to the house to add the color.  A lack of preparation again.  Sigh.....

Number 8 quiet - the path back toward the house from the bench.

Number 9 bright - it was a bright sunny day

I like the feel of the sun in these. It is hard to remember everything when you go out unless it is all packed ahead of time and double-checked. lol Glad you got out to walk and sketch.

Joan, thanks. Maybe if I used my watercolor equipment more often I could have it together. Thanks for your comments about the light. :-)

R's Rue, thank you, always.....
