Sweet Color Pastel Sketch

Pastels are my choice for painting color.  They are rich, quick and beautiful.  The paper from the last few pastel sketches was utilized yet again.  I rarely use a patterned background.  Enid talked about that in class so I thought I would try that and put a piece of wrapping paper navy blue with colored circles behind the cookies.  Then decided it was just a sketch and did not color in the navy blue, just left the color of the wiped off paper.  That is lazy but I was not making a painting just making a sketch.  Patterns could be fun.  Carol Marine does that on many of her still life paintings.

For Scavenger Hunt from Life 11

Number 6 sweet - some cookies from Buc-ee's.  Pretty good but big.  Gene and I split one cookie.

We are in the cold today.  It is 30 degrees, supposed to get down in the 20s.  We have a little sleet under the trees and along the fence but the sidewalk and road are just wet so far, no ice.

We've had 4.65 inches of rain in two days.

This is from today.  The blue and white gauge we can read in the house without going outside.  Brrr.  Our Texas winter just in time for the UT Baseball Alumni game on Saturday.  Don't think we will be going.  It will be about 45 degrees supposedly.

Love the cellophane look to the bag of cookies. Nice!!! Sounds a little chilly...probably colder than it was here today. Luckily the last few days were warmer and a lot of the snow is melting and most has fallen off the bushes and shrubs. You had a lot of rain! Hope it warms up for you!

When I saw the pattern background, I thought how cool! Great idea and it is fun with the package of cookies - like a party!

Joan, thank you. You know clear cellophane or glass is not easy. I have to remember to paint the light and that helps. We thought it was warming up but cold again this week (as I answer this so late)

Bag Blog, Carol Marine does a lot of patterned backgrounds. Enid pointed out some of the masters that used them very effectively, too. It was fun.
