Our party is over. Jennie and Grand-dogs came last Tuesday night, then Larry and Brandon, then Joanna. All here for Christmas Eve and Day. Then leaving one or two at a time. Larry was the last to leave about 1 p.m. today. It is always so quiet.
We had a good time. Lots of cooking and eating. Disc golf and boomerang fun causing Brandon to get up on the roof at one point. We played SkipBo which is evidently an old card game but new to us. It is a bit of luck and a bit of strategy. Enough challenge to have fun with it. Some of Gene's famous Margaritas after cooking, a tradition of Salty Dogs when cooking and some good bloody Marys a la Brandon.
All the traditional New Mexico dishes which came out so good this year. Apple pie from HEB and homemade Crispy Pecan Pie. Joanna's great chocolate chip cookies, mainly for Gene. Candy in the stockings, yes we still do stockings. Some Oh Nuts from Mary and some wine from Kathy and Dan. How many pounds is that?
We also went to our neighbors for pie and wine.
A good time was had by all.
I needed to sketch for the Hunt as I am hosting.

For Number 1 I sketched at the kitchen table. Jennie brought some Cranberry juice and I sketched on the iPad with brushes.
Number 1, beverage
I wanted to get a good sketch done of the doggies but as plans go. They couldn't be still when I was ready and vice versa. It is what it is!
In a regular sketchbook with a sharpie pen.
In a watercolor sketchbook with the Blick gray markers.
Chewie (Chewbacca)
The grand-dogs behaved. They are a bit more mellow with age, too. All the old folks here!
Today before Larry left he threw a few discs before packing them so I sketched for a while. In the big Canson with a Sharpie pen.
More of your choice, Larry with his discs and target; and a lady walking her dogs, gesture sketches all.

Jo sounds like Christmas was good and lots of fun. As always your sketches are great. I especially love the dogs...You did wonderful sketching them. Hope you have a great New Year. Hugs!
Dear Debbie, hope you had a fantastic time as well. Looking forward to some new ideas for sketching.
Super blog
Love your sketches. Glad you had a wonderful holiday.
R's Rue, thank you so much. Yep, all is fine here. Quiet and recuperating!
I met a young man at Viridian Coffee shop a few days ago. He is an engineer with Halliburton - one of the few still working here in Duncan. He is originally from San Antonio (Marco Fuentes). He told me the thing he missed from home was H.E.B. stores. I had to agree.
I love all the sketches!
Bag Blog, Yep, H.E.B. grocery stores are so great. They even roasted green chile, not a great job but they tried and had it to sell. I always miss them when we travel. The one here has Sadie's Salsa from Albuquerque and the 505 Green chile in jars. Thanks on the sketching. I think it will be better now that I don't have to think to "the book".
Rajani, thank you so much. Sorry I missed this. My email notice of comments was off somehow. :-(
