Sketching from a list like the Scavenger Hunts or Inktober is a good thing for me. If I don't have a prompt I will usually just do a landscape or something at hand that doesn't need a great deal of thought or perspective. These prompts will get me to sketch something I haven't before and make me look before putting down a line.
Several prompts on Scavenger Hunt 700 are shapes. I picked out a few and Gene did the Hunting for me and brought in a few squares and a triangle from his shop. Thanks, Gene. The hardest part for both of us is putting them away. We tend to be a clutter couple. Today he put them back right away. Yay.
Todays sketches in the big book with the Sharpie pen.
Number 5 dynamic shape - I chose the new pepper mill. It is manual but has stone grinders and seems to work very well. We haven't had a grinder without batteries in a looooong time.
Number 7 triangle and Number 8 square - there are three squares. The big one is for dry wall and continues off the page. The other two have levels in them as well. I did not draw the one very square ... it is square.
We might have late lunch/early dinner with Joanna today. That is the plan. We went to the Farm Street Opry on Thursday evening again. It is nice to hear old country music and visit with friends. Bob Appel was one of the guest singers again. He is very good. He likes to sing Faron Young songs but sang On the Wings of a Dove which was popular by Ferlin Husky years ago. Gene worked at a filling station in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he was attending Highlands University. The local station played On the Wings of a Dove every day at 5:00 p.m. like an anthem. Some good memories there.
I need to work on some art today. Deadline of Monday to put something in the on-line show with the Austin Pastel Society and November 29th I think for the Lost Pines Art Center 12 x 12 show for Christmas.
Deadlines are not my friend...... I used to think they were, as I would work hard to get there. Now I come dragging along......

deadlines are evil!
Glad you were able to find items to go with the hunt shapes...and even better they were returned to where they belong. Yay!
I'm not good with deadlines lately. It is sometimes just easier to not participate than to push myself to find something I have to fit in a show. I was never like that before...
Jennifer Rose, thanks. You know the feeling!
Joan, I mentioned the triangle and square and in a few minutes I had the whole bunch. Ha. You will get your interest back I bet. You stay so busy with sketching and painting. The break with no deadlines may be just the spark you need.
Jo your subjects are very well done. Can relate that unless there is a specific challenge of something different will find myself sketching the same things over. You inspire me to look for unusual items to add to my sketchbook. Hope you have a great week. Hugs!
Debbie, thank you. Sketching new things has kept me going. I never would have sketched pipes under the sink or dirty dishes and trash except for the Scavenger Hunts.
