The prompt for Day 5 was "raven". None around here, right? I thought I had some photos of crows or buzzards which might be close but I didn't. I did find a blurry photo of an osprey sitting on a dead tree out by the easterly pond. That tree has fallen down so no place for the osprey to sit anymore and we don't see it much. I sketched from the photo in my big coffee table book with a Micron 02 pen.
Gene and I were going to the grocery store. I decided to take the big book and sketch for Scavenger Hunt 696 and the item "house". I wanted to get something different in the big book. We found one of the old houses on Main Street that has been updated with a metal roof. It was neat in that the roof just curves down to the porch. Usually the roof ends and then the porch goes straight across. I hope it shows in my sketch. They have painted the house an off white that leans toward green. Interesting. There were green plants and purple flowers. The one tower or whatever it is called had curtains, not sure there was room for a room upstairs, maybe a small one. I guess the small "turret" is like a sky light.
Number 6, house. Sketched in the big book on my lap in the car .. Joan says her mobile studio, with a Sharpie pen and a Prismacolor chisel pen.
The big book is almost finished. I can't really take it out and about. Too heavy and it is hard on the spine of the book. When I finish the book my art and sketching will be different and I can experiment more. As it is I have drawn and sketched "for the book". I've done sketches on my iPad and some watercolors and pastels but not really as many different type things. We will see how it goes.
I'm less inclined to go out and lug a lot of painting gear around. Watercolors are pretty mobile and easy to deal with outside.
I'm hoping to do the work in progress pastel on Wednesday. (Tomorrow for me and today for you.) We will see....

The Lost Pines Art Center here in Bastrop has some upcoming events.
You can go to both and you have time to have a table at the Holiday Market for a reasonable price. Looks like fun. More information at https://lostpinesartcenter.org or on facebook.

Your talent amazes. Well done my friend. Have a beautiful day my friend.
R's Rue, thank you so very much. It is a beautiful day to hear from you.
I like the sketch of the bird in the tree. When I saw the house on WC I was going to ask you if the roof curved but I forgot by the time I did the comment. It really gives the roof charm. Nice find!
Joan, thanks. The osprey was a regular visitor, then the tree fell down. I have a photo someplace of him actually catching a fish from the pond. Couldn't find it for this. Yes the roof on that house is so unique. The house is very well taken care of.
I found a raven on Google and used it. He was kind of short and squatty. One of these days I'll get you my pics. I have been posting them on Instagram, too.
Bag Blog, I try to sketch from life if I can use it for the Scavenger Hunts, too. I think Gene still has Instagram, I will go cheat and have a look. Ha.
