A Million Dollars.....

My mom had lots of sayings.  "A day late and a dollar short," sort of fits here.  It reminds me of the other one, "Another day, another dollar.  A million days a million dollars."  Those must have come from the time when the daily pay was a dollar a day.

Gene and I have both been old and sore and sort of just being here.  Napping and moving around enough not to get stiff.  We both are cleared from the doctors.  I have another couple of weeks to finish recuperating and Gene will probably be about the same.  Which prompts another saying of Mom's, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired."

So, back to art.  I haven't been sitting erect too well so let the sketching slide.  At least that is the reason I'm using, no excuses.

The Southwest June Challenge had mostly photos of flowers this time.  I'm not fond of painting from photos, but do like red, so chose the strawberries to get out my pastels.  I like to paint standing up so I can move around and step back.  I couldn't do that well for more than 30 minutes at a time so it took a couple of days to get this done.

I did some sketching for the Scavenger Hunts in between.

For Hunt 682, Number 3 Outdoors, in the big book with the Lamy pen, on the porch.

For Hunt 684, Number 1 and 2, utensils and fabric.  In the big book with a Pilot ballpoint pen.  I like sketching with a ballpoint pen, just habit I guess and always handy.  The Pilot pens have nice lines and don't leave balls of lint.  I keep one on my desk, in my purse and .......  I buy a box at a time and they last a long time.

Homework is more sketching and painting.  I'm putting up the photos for the Southwest July Challenge so have to do at least one of those, right?  See all y'all later.  Thanks for hanging in there.

Joan, thank you. I feel for you. You have a much longer recovery than me. You inspire by doing so much and keeping up with your sketching. Thanks on the strawberries, I had a good photo from the challenge.

You did really well with the strawberries. You do red real good! It has been hot and humid some days. I'm not doing well with the heat. But we have also had some fairly nice days. So maybe I shouldn't complain.

Bag Blog, thank you. I like to paint red. The only hard part was painting from a photo. Ha. The heat has been bad but not as bad as we expected. We've been having a sprinkle or two almost every day. And we don't have to work outside so that is a big difference. Gene has been riding his trike early in the morning. I've had this month off, I hate to get started again but I need a routine. Haven't been doing anything.....walking, etc. I've healed well and feeling pretty good for an old lady.
