Still working on the big coffee table book. If you don't know about the book you can put coffee table sketchbook in the search at the top left of my blog. It is finally looking like I am closer to the end than to the beginning.
Should it have been more of a sketchbook where I planned out paintings and had my scribbles and baseball scores and addresses? Sometimes I use sketchbooks for keeping score in our card games. As it is, the sketchbook has more completed sketches some with color and some a lot better than others. It is fun to look through. One thing I've learned is that my sketching style stays pretty much the same and is only better when I work at it.
I can sketch pretty quickly. You would think by now I would measure and see the forms in my mind and my fingers would follow. You can tell by some bad perspective that I don't always do that. Some mistakes are sort of disguised when I add color. We see what we think we will see.
For Scavenger Hunt 671.
Number 3, smaller than the palm of your hand - a turtle charm of silver and green, can't tell if it is stone or enameled.
Number 4, with buttons - my sleeve
Number 5, taller than you - doorway
I sketched in the big book with a Micron 02 pen/fine line marker, permanent ink.
We went to dinner or to eat at Sonic the other evening. The sunset was spectacular.
It started out very yellow/gold and turquoise then went to red. The photos do not do the sunset justice.
Cirsium vulgare is what this thistle seems to be. We saw it when I sketched the landscape in my previous post. The sketchbook is 7 x 10 inches. Would you say that is a Texas Thistle or at least Texas sized? It is on the path so will probably be mowed before it finishes blooming. I think the bloom will be about the color of the sketchbook.

Love the thistle! It looks so big!!! Definitely /texas sized!
Joan, ha. Thistles are pretty and the blooms are beautiful, but not good to come in contact with.
I love to look at thistles. Years ago my mom was in the hospital in Taos. I took the back road to see her and picked wild flowers all along the way - thistles were so beautiful. By the time I got to the hospital, my hands and arms were swollen and red. I seem to be allergic to thistle and who knows what else. The wildflower bouquet was beautiful and worth it. We have had some beautiful sunsets, too. So pretty that I think that if I painted it, no one would think it was real.
Bag Blog, you are proof that you don't want to come in contact with thistles. They do have beautiful delicate blossoms. Ouch, I feel for you. My granddaughter got in poison ivy once and it was so awful. We have had some gorgeous sunsets, too. One in Roswell, NM, many years ago that was soooooo turquoise and gold. We still talk about it. Before cell phones to take a photo. Ha.
