Ready to Bake Sketch

The Southwest Challenge on wetcanvas is always a challenge for me to paint from photos.  I'm trying to do better and paint more, but so far, not much painting.  I sort of enjoyed doing this sketch.  Maybe it reminded me of my mom.  She had one of these sifters for the flour and a wooden rolling pin like this one in the sketch.

This is for the challenge from a photo that had antique stuff in it.

Sketched in the big coffee table book with a Micron 02.  Freehand and quick as usual.

Kay Smith from Big Spring, Texas, and Ruidoso, New Mexico, is on the Southwest forum on wetcanvas.  She is amazing.  I really like this watercolor.  She uses many media and techniques.  Paints every day.  You will like looking around her website and blog.

I like sketches like this of baking materials and things we use normally. Nice! I enjoy seeing Kay's work too. She has such a variety of work that she posts and most of it makes me smile. Hope you had a Merry Christmas!

I'm not sure why a rolling pin and sifter are antiques. I still use mine. Maybe I am an antique :)

Another wonderful sketch, Jo. The sifter reminds me of my Mom as well.... I just used my rolling pin yesterday while baking an apple pie.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Jo ....Happy and Healthy New Year to you and your family.... sending hugs...

hmuxo, thanks so much. Mom memories are good. Jennie and I used a rolling pin making cookies. It was a great Christmas with more to come. Great New Year to you, too.

Joan, thank you. Everyday sketches are the best. Kay is an amazing artist. You both sketch/paint almost every day. I'm impressed and inspired.

Bag Blog, these items in the photo were in some sort of antique shop. I agree but I am more an antique than you!
