Bowls and Plate Pastel Sketch

The pastels called to me today for sketching for Scavenger Hunt 619

My kitchen decorations are red, white and blue for the most part.  We go to the Empty Bowl Project for the Food Pantry every year and I pick red, white and blue bowls.  These are just a few that usually sit atop the microwave.  They are too small for cereal or salad bowls.  The bottom one is probably OK for ice cream!

I numbered this 6 and 7, but it that is wrong.  Number 5, bowl and number 6, plate.  About a 20 minute sketch with a variety of pastels on MiTeintes paper, smooth side.

I worked on another pastel the last couple of days, but it hasn't come to a finish.  Irritating when an idea doesn't translate to paper.  The paper wasn't great either, I was disappointed in that.  I was using Uart 400 grain sanded paper.  I used a bit of water for an underpainting and the paper warped a bit which makes scumbling with a big pastel harder as there are dips in the paper. Art Spectrum Colourfix paper and of course Ampersand Pastelbord do not warp.  I have a few more pieces of the Uart, will have to remember not to wet it.  I've only used it a couple of times and I don't remember if I wet it or not.  Hmmm.

Jennifer Rose, thank you so much. I like blue as you can tell. Red is really the color that is fun to paint with though. Both are hard to photograph.
