Hunt 586 Immovable

Number 8 for Scavenger Hunt 586 http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1465494  is "immovable".  There probably aren't many things that are really immovable in this day and age.  This rock wall divider in the waiting room is immovable for me!

I only had about 15 minutes to work on it so had to finish the rocks at home this morning.

I've been thinking about the sketching this morning.  I've been doing these Hunts since 2006.  Here are some of my random thoughts.
  • Has my sketching really changed?  No
  • Has it improved?  Not really.  Maybe I can be more accurate when I sketch quickly, but I do have to concentrate to achieve that.
  • Do I enjoy it?  Sometimes it is a lot of fun.  I do enjoy the camaraderie with the other artists from around the world on the Scavenger Hunts.  I also like going out with the Bastrop Sketchers.  Where are they?
  • Does it help my painting?  It keeps my mind and hands in the artistic mode.  I'm pretty sure it helps make my drawing decisions when I plan a painting.
  • How should I start?  I noticed yesterday that the first line is very important.  I put the window line down first  and made it slant down.  It actually should slant up to the left like the ceiling, so I changed it a little.  Reminder that the first line is very important for perspective.
  • Should I keep sketching?  Of course.

YES, never stop sketching... this is great Jo. Love the brickwork. I've been sketching a bit more these days. When I go to my Friday Portrait class...I sketch instead of painting because I'm at the point where I look at all the paintings in my house and say... what do I do with all these? lol

hmuxo, my smile for the day. I have so many paintings that are stacked in my studio and closet. Guess a big bonfire!

do you have any old sketches to compare with the new ones to see if your sketching style has changed?

Keep on truckin' and keep on sketchin'. I keep saying that Jerry can give outl my paintings at my funeral. lol But I don't think there would be enough people to make a dent in my piles.

Jennifer Rose, I do have old sketches. Thanks for the idea, probably some of the same items. Ha.

Joan, thanks for the encouragement. The sketches and paintings do pile up.
