Wisteria Woes

Wisteria is so beautiful and lasts such a short time.  I missed painting our neighbors wisteria last year because I waited too long.  I would prefer to do it in pastels but it was cold and misty today.  I started outside and came in for the color from a photo.  That is cheating for the Scavenger Hunts as we are supposed to sketch from life.  I guess it was started from life.

I did the coloring with watercolor markers.  My artist friend, Rae Andrews, makes it look sooooo easy.  Check out her YouTube channel to see her demos.

As I was saying I didn't find it so easy, I was using smooth watercolor paper in my watercolor sketchbook, I will try it again with the more textured paper and see how it goes.

Ah, interesting thing in baseball over the weekend.  The Longhorns played the Xavier Musketeers.  Texas won all three games 6 - 5.  All three with the same score.  Friday night was a 12 inning game with a walk off double to win. In Saturday's game, the Horns were ahead so it ended without the Horns batting in the 9th.  Sunday's was won with a walk off double in the bottom of the 9th.  Very interesting.  The Longhorns have to figure a way to get more hits!  Nerve wracking games, coming from behind.  Hook 'em Horns.

I like your watercolor wisteria. Wisteria is short lived - like red bud trees. There is small window of time when the buds are a beautiful purple/pink. Sometimes you can catch the sand plums blooming white at the same time as the red buds. Yesterday I tried to take pictures of the two, but I forgot my phone. Duh.

Thanks, Lou. You have painted some lovely red buds as I recall. Not sure what sand plums are, I will check on them. I haven't taken many wildflower photos this year and they are pretty. Duh, back at you.

Wow, Lou. The sand plums are beautiful ... and good to eat. We had lots of wild blackberries at the other house but never picked enough to cook into anything. A few snacks.

We have lots of blackberries around, but you have to be a brave soul to go after them. They come on about the time it is heating up in early June and the chiggers are bad and the blackberries are usually wild brambles of thorns. They sure make good jelly and cobblers though.

Bag Blog, Lou, the blackberries sure do have thorny vines. We had them in the yard and someone had put wire for them to climb on so not too bad to get to.

Jennifer Rose, thank you! The wisteria was beautiful, it is already on the way out. It does leave a nice hedge.
