The fastest way to make the handles yellow was with a highlighter marker. Much faster than colored pencils! I picked my card because it was handy. Really?
Lately I have looked for the easiest things to sketch .. maybe I always do that. On the other hand, sketching is meant to be practice and a way to plan a painting and decide on the path you want to take. Easy things may be just what you need for practice.
Sketching is good for the "eye" to practice composition, perspective and using your tools. I probably overdo the use of and ink, well, with fine line markers. For me they are fast. A line drawn stays there, not much chance of changing your mind. When I use other tools, like colored pencil, watercolor or oil pastels I have to concentrate on the "tool" and less on the drawing. Soft pastels are fast, too, but you can change them easily.
The previous sketch with pastels of the fruit and the colander was a quick sketch. I was very pleased with the ellipses of the fruit and colander. Then Joanna pointed out the "chicken". Oops! Luckily it was only a sketch. If it had been a painting I would have looked it over for a while and probably put it into black and white and backwards to check the values and perspective. I wonder if I would have seen it? You can see from the photo that checking and having someone else look at your work is a good idea. The odd face or other "chickens" are more apt to show up in clouds or rocks. This is a funny one!! The chicken even has a wing showing!

hmm it kind of looks like a chicken, but only if you tell some one and the squint their eyes to see it ;)
