Hunting on Number 486

These sketches were done in Austin yesterday in the travel sketchbook with a Micron 01.  These were done very quickly while waiting in the doctors office, then before the baseball game started.

Number 6, something white - the tissue
Number 7, something you look through - the check in window in the office

Number 8, outside chair - a couple of rows at the Disch before the baseball game got underway.  I was going to keep score so no other sketches.  Our Longhorns won over the  Lamar Cardinals, 9 - 5.  It was supposed to shower but didn't.  It was glorious weather, a nice evening.

Actually it was a good day all around.  We went to lunch with a friend we met at the baseball games.  She hasn't been able to go to the games.  We had lunch at Threadgills and visited for a couple of hours.

We had more time to kill, waste or lose before the game so we stopped off at the LBJ Library which is walking distance from the baseball parking garage.  It is not as impressive as I expected.  There is more research papers and recordings than you can imagine.  Looks like floors and floors.  It is 10 stories and you visit 3.  It was fun to see the "oval office" and  Lady Bird's (First Lady's) office there.  They have an animatronic LBJ which tells his jokes.  Joanna says it is kinda freaky and I must agree.
There are many short films and history on the walls, gifts from other dignitaries.  I enjoyed the photos of all the presidents and first ladies.  I was surprised that they don't make a point of how poor his family was growing up.  I think that is inspiring to people and students.  I would expect that most visitors are The University of Texas and Austin area students that do research there.  We have not visited the historic site in Johnson City https://www.nps.gov/lyjo/index.htm so maybe that is brought out there.

Side note -- not to worry about the doctors visits (shows in the sketches) I'm taking care of a hiatal hernia so nothing life threatening and I am not "sick" so to speak.  Irritating to spend so much time on the telephone and driving back and forth and taking 3 or 4 tests and seeing 3 or 4 doctors when the last one would have done it and it would be done.  Sigh...  Reminds me of looking for something and finding it in the last place you look, even though you should know at the beginning.

Love how you find time to sneak in a few sketches. I've gotten too lazy and am spending much too much time on the computer. lol

Joan, Thanks. The computer sure eats my time. I have stayed away from facebook this week. I really don't like it, but ..... Sigh.....

I think doctors are usually irritating. They seem to have some sort of etiquette of passing patients around to each other - I don't understand, but they probably make more money from their sharing. Glad you are not sick.

Bag Blog, I'm sure of the passing around. They take care of each other. Not always a good thing.

Jennifer Rose, don't know the spelling, just hope it is simple and no long down time. :-) Thanks.

getting it done that way is much easier on the body and usually has a faster healing time :)
