On the Veterans post he talks about his uncle picking up the check in restaurants for anyone in uniform and it reminded me of a story.
Gene and I do the same. We try to pay anonymously of course. One day we asked for the check for a table of 8 soldiers. There was a table next to us with what appeared to be a set of grandparents with their granddaughter. It was lunchtime and they probably had sandwiches or something. The waitress mixed up the checks and gave our check to the grandmother. She almost fainted when she saw the bill for 10 lunches and we had wine! That was one day that we were not anonymous. We all laughed after the checks were straightened out and she caught her breath.
Such a small way to thank our soldiers for their service.
